As you know, it has now been 20 years since the release of Superman II. Although the film is still very strong after all these years, the problems behind the scenes and the firing of Richard Donner and most of his crew disrupted the vision of the film and in the end, the link between it and the first film became severed. The story underwent several bad changes and a lot of important footage was left on the cutting room floor. This is why I am petitioning for a Richard Donner re-cut of Superman II. Donner has shown interest himself, and to see such a film with his vision completed and his footage reinstated would be a dream for so many fans of the film. We must do this before it's too late and we lose the footage forever. The footage itself also contains the last works of the great cinematographer Geoffrey Unsworth B.S.C., Les Bowie, Derek Meddings, Ray Caple, John Barry, Denys N Coop B.S.C., Wally Veevers B.S.C., Charles Staffell B.S.C., and many others who have passed on. It is because of these reasons that we hope that Donner will be allowed to create his vision for a Special Edition DVD.
