ACTRA - GET BACK TO THE BARGAINING TABLE.
The illegal, irresponsible and self-centered actions of the ACTRA executive and it's voting members must not be stood for. ACTRA must immediately return to the bargaining table and resolve it's issues as every other film union and guild in Canada has done. Their actions are jeopardizing the jobs of thousands of full-time film technicians and the supporting businesses that keep our industry running.
ACTRA must face reality, stop with the nonsense and get back to work. Their so-called strike is a farce. They cannot call a strike and then allow their members to continue working while holding a gun to the heads of local producers. The continuance letters, with their varying rates, are extortion and these actions must stop. Our business is fragile and tenuous at the best of times. A strike is the last thing anyone wants or needs.
We, members of the Directors Guild of Canada, NABET and IATSE, appeal to the ACTRA executive to come to their senses, to stop dreaming of parity with SAG and Hollywood and to accept the new reality that we all are facing. GET BACK TO THE BARGAINING TABLE.
