Amerasian Friends of Tuan Le

Tuan Le and we are Amerasian. We are sons and daughters of American soldiers who fought in Viet Nam during the Viet Nam War. Our hardships began right after the fall of Viet Nam when our fathers returned home to the United States of America. We became a uniquely identified group that often was looked down upon and subject to mistreatment and humiliation; we were known as American mixed-race and were discriminated against in all aspects of life by the local Vietnamese government. Life was very difficult then.
However, we believed in a brighter future and would not let the hatred stop us from achieving our hopes of becoming useful members of society. During the 1980s and 1990s, we were very fortunate to have the opportunity to come to our fatherland, the great United States of America. Since then, we have proven to be useful members of society by building our families, obtaining good education, and actively involving in community activities.
We have known Tuan Le as a hard-working man, a good caring friend, and a humble young man who always respect others. We believe the recent incident is the result of Tuan Le being humiliated by a member of the communist Vietnamese delegation visiting the United States at the time. Seeing our Amerasian friend being humiliated by a communist in our fatherland and adopted nation was a great affront to all of us.
This incident does not reflect Tuan Les true nature as a good man. We signed our names here in testimony of Tuan Les good character and as witnesses to his work ethic and desire to be a good citizen.
Sincerely yours,
