Australian National Child Protection Law

There are currently eight separate child protection law systems in place throughout Australia: Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia.

With the mobility of the modern Australian family and the growing vulnerability of children and their families, in what is becoming a highly volatile global market system, it is essential that Australia adopt a national child protection law. A law that will provide a high level of care and protection to all Australian children.

We strongly believe that a national child protection law will significantly improve the capacity of the legal system to protect children from harm. We therefore respectfully request that, as a matter of urgency, the Federal Parliament enact a national child protection law to ensure that all Australian children are afforded a consistently high level of legal protection.
