Boston Public School Lottery Reform

The Lottery is unfair and busing has outlived its usefulness.
Parents would not be this disgruntled if their child's entire grammar school career typically depends on K1 placement. It's wonderful that Boston offers a K1 program, however there are parents who would not typically send their child to a full day program, but submit them because they know that without K1, they don't have a great chance at their school choice for K2. It's unfair that some parents have to pay up to $6,000 for a pre-school education, when their neighbors do not.
Most parents don't want their children bused, some don't want them bused to certain schools. Isn't it time we take the money used for busing and improve the under-performing schools in our communities?
Doesn't every child deserve a quality education? We believe they do - and hope you do too.
