Not-So-Well-Hidden away in Hollywood today, a virtual land grab for your rights is being played out in the descision over the next, higher quality DVD format. The MPAA is poised to prevent you from using your current TV, DVD player, computer or monitor to see the DVDs that will be released in a few years time. Prototype next generation DVDs have already been embedded with this 'protection'. This is, of course, entirely unacceptable. We must take action against the MPAA lobbyists as a collective group and boycott any 'high resolution media' that will prevent us from seeing what we legally have a right to see, on televisions, computers, dvd players and monitors that we legally have right to use.

Therefore, we refuse to buy ANY DVD infested with copy-protection that will prevent ANY current screen from viewing DVD content, or limit our rights by preventing legal 'fair use' copying of content. All of us have bought or rented at least 100 DVDs or Videos through legal sources, providing revenue to the motion picture industry in America. All of us would have otherwise bought at least 300 more within their lifetimes.

However, we resolve to get our high-resolution content through 'other sources', use standard DVDs over high resolution content, or simply boycott the industry, if the limitations imposed by technologies such as HDCP, AACS, PVP-OPM and PVP-UAP prevent us from using current technologies to view high resolution content, or excersize our rights as free citizens to copy media as described in the fair use copyright laws, currently in place.

Many of us believe in Digital Rights Management as far as illegal use of content. But restricting honest citizens is not the answer. Make no mistake. We WILL circumvent the MPAA's land grab, including plans to block recording of live television, and to block DVD media from being viewed, and retain our rights as citizens.
