Dear Mr George N. Gillett Jr., Mr. Pierre Boivin, Mr.Bob Gainey, Mr. Alain Gauthier, Mr. Donald Beauchamp, and the rest of The Canadiens Administration
While conversing with people for the past several years through various means it has become apparent that there are many who are disappointed. We are disappointed by the fact that every time the Montreal Canadiens score a goal we hear Vertigo by U-2. Not to take away from U-2 or the song, but it certainly cannot compare to the excitement and joy that the old goal song used to generate.
We mean of course the goal song that was used between 2000-2003 and was composed by LOreille. The song can be heard at http://www.loreille.com/special3.html
Many have been the people who weve heard ask Why did they ever get rid of it? When asked about this song people almost unanimously answered That is the best goal song in hockey, and we agree. Does the best and most storied franchise in NHL history not deserve the accompaniment of the best goal song?
We believe that it does and we hereby petition the Montreal Canadiens Hockey Club, by the strength of the undersigned, to bring back our beloved goal song.
