Buxton SU bar

We believe that the Buxton campus (of the University of Derby) deserves its own students union bar. Firstly the students union could greatly increase its revenue if it had its own venue, as it has to pay for the use of other venues at present.
Secondly the venue that is currently used for most of the events is regularly at full capacity, and with the forecasted growth of the Buxton campus this will not be sufficient.
The last Students union bar failed because it was nowhere near large enough to hold proper events and thus to gain student participation and interest.
The new venue will need to fulfil certain requirements. These are:
Space for 200+ students (minimum)
Room for live music
Room for basic catering
Room for draught beers
Ready by September 2008
Many students want to have a sense of ownership over their bar and for this to happen it needs to be situated in Buxton and needs to be run by the SU!
