(Sorry for it's length.) Everyone had probably heard what might have been rumour or truth. Now it's truth, the first Six Nations game to be held on a Friday will be Wales and France on 27th February 2009 in Paris.

In making this decision, there has been no thought for the fans, travelling or otherwise. Fans spend their time and money on travelling and watching these games and on merchandising etc. If there were no fans, there would be no tournament.

The idea has been compared to that of Sunday games with Sunday travel being "very, very difficult" especially for those who have to go to work on Monday.(http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_union/welsh/7353474.stm)
But how is travelling to a Friday night game any different? Those people who work will have to have time off on the Friday to get to Paris. If Friday night matches prevail, other people in the other Nations are going to have to have unnecessary time off work if they are to attend a match.

Thought has also not been given to people who do NOT travel to games. The Millenium Stadium is in Cardiff City centre, where people will go out to bars, pubs etc. after a week at work. Being suddenly confronted with a hundred thousand rugby fans, or potenially more, who are all in the pubs, is not going to be pleasant. And take Twickenham, this stadium is in the middle of a residential area. Locals residents are not going to be happy if they are woken by fans streaming out of the stadium.

Putting a game on a Friday night for the sake of wanting a bigger TV audience, is not good enough. The RBS Six Nations games should stay where they have been for years, Saturdays and Sundays.
