Mr. Masaya Maeda
Director and Chief Executive of Image Communication Products Operations.

Dear Mr. Maeda,

Since you are currently the head of the entire camera division, covering both DSC and EOS DSLR system, we decided to write this petition to Canon Inc. and also directly to your person.

We are Canon customers and users all over the world (enthusiasts, amateurs and professionals) who would like to place a public petition to Canon regarding the EOS 5D Mark II.

With all due respect for not having the background or understanding of the firmware, we however, feel this is an economical change for Canon to implement in a camera body already in production via a firmware upgrade, and would significantly enhance it's capabilities and also competitiveness in the short term and long term.

We the undersigned feel that the lack of manual control while recording video - specifically aperture control is missing from the current 5D Mark II. Without this, the goal and general intent of the Canon 5D Mark II misses it's mark of providing control over DOF while recording video. Even though Canon revised it's whitepaper to identify the confusion, we feel that this doesn't go far enough to address the root issue.

We also feel this would send a strong message to the market on a whole, to whom many question Canon's commitment and seriousness to upgrading camera capabilities after they are released, outside of necessary corrective fixes.

We the undersigned are waiting for Canon to introduce manual control to video recording prior to purchasing the Canon 5D Mark II.
