Most honorable gentlewomen and gentlemen, we the citizens of Iron County, come before you with this request to revisit the resolution H.J.R.14 as put forth by the honorable David L. Hogue during the 2004 General Session. Sadly, it has come to the attention of the citizens of Iron County that we have some elected county officials that no longer demonstrate concern for the citizens that elected them. Furthermore, they openly demonstrate contempt for those that they represent, namely we, the citizens of Iron County. Although this effects Iron County, we are asking that this measure be instituted state-wide, because as the morals of the country decline, we find more elected officials are tempted to become abusive of the power entrusted to them. We are submitting copies to each of you due to the fact that we will be presenting this petition state-wide. It will not only be signed in Iron County but the entire state, though we are pursing this measure mainly for this county, as the need is here. Honest individuals in elected offices have nothing to fear from such a law or statute so long as the electorate are a moral people as this republic is set forth to be by God and our forefathers. Any dissembling on this subject about cost to the taxpayer or waist of resources could only be interpreted as an excuse of a fearful politician. As the citizenry of the state are educated enough to figure issues such as this out for themselves and be able to weigh the cost as opposed to the gains. Additionally, as this government is supposed to be one; of the people, by the people, and for the people. This requested resolution is a sure way for you to demonstrate that you stand behind the principle and are not just giving token lip service and pandering for votes. For the constitution to be upheld, we need citizens involved and committed and politicians who are honest and accountable. This resolution, H.J.R. 14, would go a long way to accomplish this. As those elected to represent us, we beseech you to strongly consider the adoption of this resolution.
We, the Citizens of Utah
