Despite the new developments being highly green rated they fail to address the want for green space by the student body. Carleton university is missing a great opportunity to be a leader in the community when it comes to urban gardening and this is a chance for a new learning and study environment right here on campus. Other universities in Canada such as McGill in Montreal, Lakehead in Thunder Bay, UVIC in Victoria, Waterloo and Queens, to name a few, have seen the benefits of urban gardening projects. The Carleton Urban Gardening Project, community garden that is organized in partnership between the students, the University, and the local community to grow vegetables, will be a leader in urban farming. Different opportunities for volunteer learning will be available and there is a possibility for future academic programs.
Your support is important in order for the project to become a reality. The university needs suggestions and support from students and faculty.
