Cast Alfie Boe as Jean Valjean for Les Misйrables Movie

We, the undersigned, would like to show our full support for the casting of opera tenor, Alfie Boe, as Jean Valjean in the upcoming motion picture adaptation of the award winning musical, Les Misйrables.
In October 2010, Mr. Boe took London and the whole world by storm by playing the role in the sold-out 25th Anniversary Concert of Les Misйrables at the request of Sir Cameron Mackintosh, and will now be playing Valjean in the West End production at the Queens theatre due to popular demand. His popularity continues to grow further still now that PBS has shown his talents to a much bigger, televised audience. Not to mention, his most recent album, Bring Him Home, claimed a top ten spot and has reached GOLD with over 100,000 record sales in the UK and currently has peaked to the number 3 spot on the American Billboard Chart for classical albums.
We understand your concern for wanting big names for the movie in order for the film to sell well. But that can easily be taken care of by casting well-known supporting actors alongside Alfie who can carry a tune. Some suggestions that have already been mentioned include: Hugh Jackman, Helena Bonham Carter, James Marsden, Timothy Spall, Johnny Depp, Jason Isaacs, Demi Lovato, and Anne Hathaway.
Please do not make the same mistake Phantom of the Opera made by casting someone who cannot support the vocal demands of the male lead. In 1987, Les Misйrables won the Tony Award for Best Musical. With the help of Alfie Boe, lets have Les Mis win yet another award in the upcoming future: an Oscar.

About half way into the PBS production of Les Miz I realized that Alfie Boe was playing Valjean as it always should have been played. He should certainly have the opportunity to play it in the movie.

alfie is the only right choice for this role. The fans are clammoring for Alfie to do this. You WILL have a major hit on your hands if you just listen to the fan base. we are, afterall, the ones who buy the tickets and make you money.
