This is a petition to show support for reverting back to the University of Chattanooga.
NOTE: This is not a petition to leave the UT system. Only to drop Tennessee from the official title.
This is felt, by those in favor of the change, to be a way to develop the Chattanooga campus with its own identity as a insititution of higher learning, and not just a second tier school of UT-Knoxville.

I believe that the present name infers a degree and stature of less significance than the Main campus in Knoxville. I have noted that in conversations with people in our area. "I guess he/she couldn't get into UT so he/she went to UTC." I guess so-and-so

I believe that dropping the "T" in UTC will bring about much more civic pride in OUR university.
Just as Memphis State decided that the University of Memphis sounded more prestigious. (many joked that Memphis State sounded like a community college).
