Dear Governor Patton
I appeal to you to grant Kevin Stanford clemency. Kevin Stanford was sentenced to death for a crime he participated in while still a juvenile. He is the only juvenile on death row in Kentucky. Kevin Stanford is African American. He was tried and sentenced by an all-white jury. The jury heard very little about Kevins childhood and adolescence, or the reasons why he should not have been sentenced to death for his role in the death of Baerbel Poore in 1981.
In the twenty (20) years since his conviction and death sentence, he has matured greatly. He has obtained his GED and then associate college degrees in business management and liberal arts. He has also married.
Kevin Stanford is not the same person he was when he was arrested at the age of 17 in January 1981. Please spare Kevins life.
