The 'taught student contract' makes it clear that the contract for the delivery of Education and the assurance of an award is between the University of Leeds and students, not between the teaching staff and us. By causing staff to take legitimate and lawful strike action, which was wholly avoidable, the University is putting itself in potential breach of that contract, and of elements of the 'partnership agreement' (formerly the 'student charter'). Should there be significant disruption to our education by strike action, or by any 'action short of a strike', we shall hold the University, not its teaching staff, to blame. In the case of such disruption or of any failure in the part of the University to meet its obligations under the taught student contact, we shall consider pooling resources and take legal advice with a sight to legal action against the University for breach of contract.
