We the undersigned oppose the proposal to build an aquarium, restaurant, shop and raised car park on Te Raekaihau Pt, adjacent to Princess Bay, because:
1. The structures will spoil the unique intrinsic geological qualities, exceptional uninterrupted sea-views and suburbanise the wild natural character of this dominant flat iconic headland and adjoining escarpments on Wellingtons south coast.
2. Public ownership of this undeveloped Open Space has ensured everyone unrestricted and unobstructed use of the whole headland for outdoor leisure, recreational and/or educational activities; these structures will limit free access and increase conflict between the many users and values of the entire area.
3. New structures should not be located on the seaward side of the coast road.
