No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President
Article 2 Section 1 - United States Constitution

When our founding fathers set out to draft the Constitution, they would draft it to rule over this country for hundreds of years to come.

Even as you read this the threads of our Constitution continue to be unraveled. There is a movement to amend the constitution once again this time, to change the qualifications of the highest office in the land; the President of the United States. This change is only being sought to retain political party control for the future. THIS IS WRONG!!!

I answer, if it ever reach us it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. If we allow the continual decay of the Constitution, we will become that 'author and finisher'. - Abraham Lincoln

Why did the founding fathers require the highest office be held by a native-born citizen? The founding fathers consisted of both native-born and foreign born countrymen. They all agreed to the qualifications in order to protect our country from not only the outside world, but from itself.
What are the possible problems in putting a foreign-born citizen in the highest office of this country?

Scenario 1
Imagine you were born and raised in Austria and you then move to the United States as a young man. Twenty years later you become President. You have your parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins still living in Austria. Where is your loyalty? To family or country?

Scenario 2
You are born and raised in a socialist society. You agree with some of the things that your country is governed by, but you still decide to go to America to make your fortune. After 20 years of accumulating great wealth you decide to run for President of the United States. As President, you realize that things arent the way you would like them to be, so you push some of you socialist views from your youth.

On July 10, 2003 the Equal Opportunity to Govern Amendment was introduced, proposing to allow foreign-born citizens to become the President of the United States. We ask simply that our representatives listen to the people that they so represent, and vote down this abomination. We ask that they understand that we believe in the inspiration of the founding fathers over a deceptive and ill-conceived amendment.
