After the Community Center's board of directors made a decision to suspend its concert program indefinitely, the music died at Holy Grounds Youth Center's Coffee House.(The Capitol) The Coffee House program enriches and enhances the lives of the Severna Park community and surround areas. The adolescents who attend the Friday Night Coffee House are allowed to grow into productive, socialized members of the community. Growing adolescents must make multiple decisions to develop into an adult. The staff members of the Coffee House are there to ensure the young people are guided on the right path.
The parents in the community know where their kids are when they attend the Friday Night Coffee House program. The kids are in a safe and supervised environment where they are allowed to be more like the young adults that they are. The businesses profits have been escalating due to the extra surge of teenagers buying from the surrounding stores. The businesses can not complain because the bottom line in business is money. The Holy Ground is a steppingstone for many local bands that have made a career out of their passion. The Coffee House program has been used as a stepping stone for bands such as Havok in Hollywood, Wakefield, and Good Charlotte, who has gone on to sell millions of albums. After a long week of school, Friday night at the holy ground coffee house is something that the kids look forward to. The Coffee House is a place that the young adults can attend and not have to worry about fitting in, because every fits in at the Holy Ground! The majority of the staff members are musicians, and can educating the kids about musical equipment and helping them with any problems they may have playing their first few shows.
Where is the youth of Severna Park and the surrounding areas supposed to go on Friday nights? Where can the teenagers go and express their creativity? The Holy Ground Coffee House is truly a unique place, with a dedicated staff, which is hard to come by.
Continuing the program is a good idea. The bottom line is that the Friday Night Coffee House provides a service to the community that cannot be found elsewhere. The parents can know that their children are in a supervised environment, where they can be guided to make the correct decisions to develop into productive citizens of our society. We hope the friends and neighbors of the community will join hands to make the [Friday Night Coffee House again] a reality.
