Defective Apple Computer Power Cord

We, the undersigned, demand that Apple Computers immediately address the obvious and dangerous defect in the so-called "yo-yo" a/c power adapter cords designed for Apple iBook and Powerbook computers which leads to fraying of the cords, exposure of wires, and sparking.
Demands:
1) Acknowledgment of said defect.
2) Immediate recall of all so-called "yo-yo" power adapters.
3) Replacement of all such adapters with a new, safe version at no cost to the consumers
4) Payment for repairs and/or replacement of anything or anyone damaged, destroyed or injured as a result of a/c adapter malfunction during normal usage, including, but not limited to, other Apple computer components.
5) Compensation for all injuries and/or death that may have resulted from malfunction of said adapters.
6) Refund for any adapter cords purchased by consumers to replace defective cords.
Unfortunately, many users of the defective "yo-yo" adapters have contacted Apple Technical Support, to no avail. Time and time again, Apple representatives have denied any knowledge of prior incidents of fraying, sparking, or wire exposure. Frequently, product users have been blamed for all problems associated with the adapter cords. On January 15, 2003, a string of 80 Discussion Board posts on Apple.com of complaints regarding the adapter cord were removed by Apple representatives, suggesting an attempt to quiet any suspicion of a possible defect.
As loyal Apple product supporters, we find it difficult to believe that Apple disregards the safety and quality of its products. The price we pay to be a part of the Apple Family should not include compromising our health and safety or giving up the quality of products we have come to expect and appreciate from Apple.
We expect a satisfactory resolution to this problem within 14 days of your receipt of this petition. Should a satisfactory resolution not be reached within a reasonable time, our consequent actions may include, but will not be limited to, immediate release of this petition to the media and immediate legal action, including a class action lawsuit.
