This is a petition from the customers of your XPS 700 gaming system. Not only were delays longer than expected, false advertising was in the works. Mary Joseph and the Dell.com website specifically states that the Dell XPS 700 gaming system will include Nvidia 590 CHIPSET. The few individuals who have received the computer confirmed that this was not the case. According to Nvidia's website, the following should be included in a Nvidia 590 motherboard:
1. NVIDIA SLI Technology: 2 x 16lanes
2. FSB (MHz) 1066 MHz
3. DDR2 Memory (MHz) 667 MHz
4. PCI Express:
# Lanes 48 lanes
# Links 9 links
Configuration 16, 16, 8, 1, 1, 1,1, 1, 1
5. SATA/PATA drives 6/2
6. SATA speed 3Gb/s
7. RAID 0,1,0+1,5
8. NVIDIA MediaShield Storage Technology Yes
9. Native Gigabit Ethernet Connections 2
10. NVIDIA FirstPacket technology Yes
11. NVIDIA DualNet technology Yes
12. Teaming Yes
13. TCP/IP Acceleration Yes
14. NVIDIA nTune Utility Yes
15. USB ports 10
16. PCI Slots 5
17. Audio HDA (Azalia)
Another issue is Dell falsely advertising their X-Fi sound cards. According to the few who have gotten the soundcard and ChrisM, moderator, of the Dell Community Forums, the X-Fi sound card offered from Dell does not include Dolby Digital 5.1 as stated on Dell.com.
These issues are extremely disappointing. One would think a company such as Dell would learn after the bait and switch fiasco in China regarding the T2300 and T2300E Intel Core Duo processor switch.
Please realize that these are great issues for high end gamers and PC users. It is one thing to tell the consumer that the sound card or motherboard will be proprietary and stripped down, and it is another to falsely advertise as if the component was the full version.
Below are the names of the people petitioning for Dell to make measures to change this false advertisement. Also, compensate all orders that have been placed between the launch of the XPS 700 until present day.
