Expanison of 3rd Eye Open Event

The annual 3rd Eye Open Event is a day in the summer when our youth of
all
cultures, backgrounds, and geographics come together and enjoy the
positivity that the 5 elements of Hip-Hop has to offer, rather than the
music on the air waves that are falsely representing Hip-Hop Culture.
Art such as Graffiti, Break Dancing, rapping, singing,
3 on 3 Basketball tournaments, refreshments, and other activities
bring
our youth together for a fruitful and peaceful day of enjoyment. This
event
takes place at Buttonwood Park in New Bedford, Massachusetts. This year the 8th Annual 3rd
EyE
Open will be held July 21st and (July 22nd?) at Buttonwood Park in New
Bedford, MA.

We, the undersigned, are in favor of expanding the 3rd EYE Open in 2007
to a
full weekend festival. 2007 will mark the 8th Annual 3rd EyE Open. The
tradition continues to grow, as do activities and crowd size. This
makes it
difficult for the youth of the city to access all of the Open's
activities,
because so many of them must happen simultaneously. Also, many people
have
to work or have other engagements, and currently have to miss out on
the
event because it is only one day. With 2 days to feature the Open's
activities, each day could be enjoyed fully, and would permit community
members the option to participate in another day of peaceful recreation..
