Fair Trade Football

We believe that every football club should seek to attain Fair Trade status.
Fair Trade is a movement which guarantees a fair price to producers in developing countries. It is not a particular brand or product, but a label of accreditation which any product has the potential to achieve. It is non-political, economically competitive, and has greatly improved the lives of 5 million of the world's poorest people to date.
Hundreds of organisations in the UK have already attained Fair Trade status - including universities, cities, schools, councils, churches, and workplaces. Requirements include stocking a certain proportion of Fair Trade goods, and having a steering panel on Fair Trade issues. We believe that football clubs have a crucial role to play in supporting fair trade, and making it more accessible across the market. Not only is it a social responsibility, but will benefit the club, the fans, and producers across the world.
Fair Trade is here to stay. It has support from across the political spectrum, across society. It is a way of improving the lives of millions, without charity. There is every reason for all football clubs to get involved and seek Fair Trade status, as soon as possible.
