Fair Trial In The Mona Suri Acid Attack Case

Two months back, in a grim reminder that women in Delhi are unsafe, two unidentified men attempted to burn alive a fashion designer, Mona Suri outside her residence in a posh south Delhi locality.
The attackers who came on a motorbike, poured KEROSENE on her and threw a lighted matchstick leaving her with 80 percent burns. Owing to the serious nature of the burns, she succumbed to death 20 days back.
Today, as this henious crime fades away and the police continues to offer a series of dissatisfying investigations , we still see the victimised family chasing the assailants and fight a lone battle in the court.
The whole country attributes the problem to the system where the whole process of getting justice is long-drawn and where there is no protection for witnesses.
The continuing delay in the case has set a very bad precedent as to how the accused get away without punishment.
Henceforth, we sincerely request you, Sir, to explore all possibilities at your end for securing an effective speedier trial in the case. A fair trial in this case is important to prevent the miscarriage of justice and to restore public faith in the state and its institutions.
