Whereas, we the citizens of the City of Fairfield believe that our children deserve the highest quality of education.
And whereas, the City of Fairfield has acknowledged that they have failed to appropriate funds earmarked for our childrens education.
And whereas, we believe that the Fairfield Board of Education has not only failed to properly exercise dominion and control over school board resources by failing to demand payment of tax revenue earmarked for the education of the children of the City of Fairfield in violation of their fiduciary duty to citizens of the City of Fairfield but also, have terminated the Fairfield School Superintendent without cause when she sought to recover said educational tax revenues for the benefit of the children of the City of Fairfield.
And whereas, the Fairfield School Board conducted an entire restructuring of school administration within the school district less than three weeks prior to the opening of the school year. A decision which could undermine any and all success the school system could potentially have with the children held hostage.
Therefore, we respectfully request that the Alabama Legislature enact legislation at their next session to abandon the appointment of members of the Fairfield City Board of Education and require members of the Fairfield Board of Education to stand for election by the Citizens of the City of Fairfield.
