Fight 4 Gatecon: The Fan Movement to Keep Gatecon Alive

We, the undersigned, fans of Stargate SG-1/Stargate Atlantis, and the fan-run convention GateCon, are offended and outright angered by the actions of MGM in offering a licence to Creation Entertainment for them to run a convention out of Vancouver for the 2005 year. For the past 5 years, Gatecon has sought to bring a truly unique experience to Vancouver for the fans, the actors, and the production crew of the above mentioned show(s). We've become a family, and the actors themselves have seemed to enjoy the experience and meeting their fans.
The "UNPRECEDENTED NEVER BEFORE SEEN" events that MGM and Creation are planning for their event in Vancouver this coming April, is nothing short of a carbon copy of every single event that Gatecon has put on in the past 5 years. While Gatecon has been seeking licensing, MGM has been working behind their backs and pulling the rug out from under us, endeavoring to make it more difficult for us to continue in granting the license to Creation Entertainment instead.
We will shout to be heard. We will not go away.
This event, while it is fun for the fans and fun for the actors, also raises money for many worthwhile charities. In the past 5 years we've helped raise over $100,000.00, for the Make A Wish Foundation, and this past year we reached the $100,000.00 mark for CCFF (Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation) as well. MGM's efforts against us in order to share in the profit that they believe to be made in the Vancouver market are taking that money away from the people who need it most.
We, the fans, will speak until we are heard. We will shout until we're blue in the face.
The purpose of this petition, and we, the undersigned, is to Fight 4 Gatecon. We are beseeching you, MGM, to please issue a license to C4, out of Europe as the Official Stargate Convention in Canada for the Years 2005/2006 and or 2006/2007. We are a family, the fans of Stargate. And we stand by our cause.
