The sentiment was instituted by the current regime, but we need to take it to heart.
Here's how we RESTORE THE ORDER:
1) Fire the current regime-Pearlman, Pederson, Callahan and staff. Include EVERYONE ASSOCIATED WITH THE FOOTBALL PROGRAM except, perhaps, the press box staff--they haven't screwed anything up and the PA announcer has a great voice.
2) Get rid of Jim Rose and bring back Kent Pavelka. He is an apologist for Callahan and company. I'm tired of him trying to convince us that mediocrity is actually success in progress.
3) Find a firey, passionate coach who cares about and respects the paegentry and tradition of college football in general and NEBRASKA FOOTBALL specifically.
4) Bring back the option game. Why???? It is what made Nebraska unique. NOBODY ELSE GOOD RAN IT! If you were THE MAN (a quarterback, running back, lineman who was the best at it) you had one choice where you were going to attend school, NU. There are kids out there who run this offense and really don't have a place to go. NU has got to be THAT PLACE. By returning to our roots, we bring back the ONE THING we have left (other than the sellout streak) that sets us apart from every other university. The grind it out offense keeps the other offense off the field which keeps our defense rested WHICH KEEPS THE OTHER OFFENSE FROM SCORING 41 FREAKIN POINTS A GAME.
5) Hire Jason Peter and Grant Wistrom to RESTORE THE ORDER on defense. I'm sure they can teach good technique and can instill passion and fire. I'm sure they can restore the understanding of what it means to wear a black shirt.
6) Get rid of the freakin hip hop tune prior to the tunnel walk. Get rid of the fireworks. The first thing you hear before the team comes through the tunnel is the low booming sound of SIRIUS.
7) Return this prayer to the team: Dear Lord, the battles we go through life, we ask for a chance that's fair.
A chance to equal our stride, a chance to do or dare.
If we should win, let it be by the code, Faith and Honor held high.
If we should lose, we'll stand by the road, and cheer the winners go by.
DAY BY DAY, WE GET BETTER AND BETTER!
TILL WE CAN'T BE BEAT..........WON'T BE BEAT!
8) Make Tom Osborne's book "More than Winning" required reading of every freakin' recruit. Teach them that it is about the team and if you want to play for THIS team, you have got to WANT to be a Husker. You have to bleed HUSKER RED. You don't look to the future in the NFL, you look to destroy the guy lining up across from you on the NEXT PLAY!
9) Require that if are a player and you speak on camera, you do not whine, snivel or blame. You appear honest, confident and respectful. You lead! YOU LEAD!
10) Bring back the Unity Council!
