Florida State New Motorist Schedule Fees

Mr. Governor, sir


I am writing to you on behalf on my haggard generation of newly enrolled college students, the highschoolers with trodden on dreams, and the average Floridian making it paycheck to paycheck. I do not mean to sound defensive, or rude, ostentanious, or vengeful, but I must share my common belief to the new fees regarding vehicles and motorist tags.

Firstly, I understand the position the state has been put in due to the economy. Citizens and homeowners are leaving because they simply cannot afford a beachside, subtropical life any longer. Revenue is drying up from the tax payers that have packed up and moved on; the housing economy is tanked, and the state is losing too much in tax capital that was once almost guaranteed. Tourism has dried up in such hard times, and Florida is suffering.

I, however, cannot condone the virtual pocket-rape that the new fees intend. Doubling, in some cases tripling, prices on manditory vehicle papers is absolutely atrocious. This is simply not the way to keep citizens from leaving the state, or making up for differences in the economy. Because we the people cannot argue against it, because we the people need vehicles to earn a living, education, or travel to the great healthcare institutions of America, we the people are being taken advantage of.

Consider the first-time drivers, and the experience of a first car you are taking away in many cases because the teenager and parents simply cannot afford such prices. How is it fair by any means to punish the new drivers for the state's mistakes? Consider the college students, that are already finding it hard to afford a higher education with the cuts in scholarships and educational funding. Consider the everyday, hard-worker that keeps this state functioning that can barely just manage to afford keeping themselves and a family above the water.

There are other alternatives than taxing the citizens in areas that cannot be rebelled against. There are better options to raise revenue than taking nips and bites out of the sheep. You are the power and safehaven of the state, the idolized figure of we the people, put in the position you are in to guard and protect the people from unlawful actions againt them. To lobby against the general affairs and security of we the people, you find yourself in a position no better than the corrupt politicians sitting on capital hill.
