Foster Care in California is currently being mismanaged by the federal government. The U.S. Government has requirements for foster parents and foster homes; California also has a set of requirements that are meant to ensure child safety. Despite the regulations involved in becoming a foster parent, California has a long way to go before their laws will be adequate. The current foster care system fails at keeping children safe while they wait for permanent homes. The homes these children are staying in are not large enough to house the children. Often children are placed in homes were abuse has been reported, what sense would it make to allow a young child live with someone who has already been accused of abuse. There are also many people becoming foster parents just for the money, in some cases the birth mother has the child, in other cases the foster parent doesn't know where the child is.
California children need a foster care reform and we are willing to fight for their rights.
