Dear Ambassador Michael W. Michalak:
We just received the news from Vietnam, at 4:15 PM, on August 18th, 2008, the Vietnamese police of Hanoi, and of the Soc Son District arrested Mr. Le Thanh Tung, while he was making photo copies. He had documents regarding human rights.
After that they brought Mr. Le Thanh Tung to the police station, at the district of Soc Son. They did this to interrogate him. They contacted the Vietnamese police in Hanoi for permission to search the home of Mr. Le Thanh Tung.
Mr. Le Thanh Tung is a freedom fighter. Since his arrest, the telephone lines have been cut off, no one has been able to get in contact with Mr. Le Thanh Tung. We did contact his wife, she told us that until now she has had no information regarding her husband Le Thanh Tung.
The arrest of Mr. Le Thanh Tung proves that Vietnam does not have human rights or democracy. We would like to ask you to contact the government of Vietnam, for his release. If he is still held captive, than please ask that Mr. Le Thanh Tung not be harmed in anyway.
Sincerely,
