At the current time, the definitions have not been updated since 1991. You cannot use these definitions, designed in a time of peace, to encompass this time of war, conflict. There should have been a set of definitions made and expressed openly and honestly to the American People, American Military Families, at the point and time these two conflicts broke out.
Said definitions and finitely counted and designated numbers are not only the RIGHTS of all Americans, as well as most certainly of utmost importance to the Military Families, but should, at all times, be public knowlege. The military family needs to KNOW the criteria for killed, killed in action, killed as a result of war injury, illness, infection, disease, medical conditions, as well as those listed as pow, mia, and pow/mia. The new 'titles' of missing and/or captured needs to be outlined in a definite set of standards so that Military Personnel as well as Military Family members, friends, loved ones can know how each is catagorized thus allowing them to know what other Military Service, Government Assistance is available to them.
We request accurate counting, list, tables, figures to represent all of our losses in conflict situations. We request a readable and understandable version of the definitions/criteria used by the Government and the Department of Defence so that the Military families might know where they stand, where stands the situation of their loved one, a true American Military Hero, each and every one.
We ask you to sign this petition for better understanding of all Military Family members and the American Populace at large.
