The United States is currently lacking leadership and has been heading in the wrong direction in the last year-and-a-half. President Obama has done nothing but to push the country further into dept and impose his radical agenda on the American people wherever he has had the opportunity. The president has shown a lack of respect and responsibility for the office that he holds and has clearly demonstrated that he is too inexperienced, incapable, and immature to perform the job that is expected of him.
That being said, the Republican Party is also currently lacking in the choice of proper candidates. That's where you come in, Mr. Governor. In the same way that Obama brings to mind vivid flashbacks of Former-President Carter, your strong ideals and actions are reminiscent of the late President Reagan.
Your potential assets to the presidency are abundant. For one, you are likable. Second, the American people elected Obama because they "hoped" that he would be what he claimed to be: strong, decisive, and willing to take the risks necessary. Instead he has shown weakness, indecision, and the seeming desire to just pursue his own interests while enjoying the honor and benefits of the highest office in the world. You, by contrast, are everything that the President is not. You have actually proven yourself to be strong and capable of turning your state in the right direction.
You recently said that there is no way that you would run for president, citing your lack of desire and your duties to your state. With the utmost respect, sir, you are not just a "New Jerseyan", but an American. And as an American, we need you to take over this country and steer it back in the direction that the founding fathers envisioned.
President Reagan, in his acceptance speech of the Republican presidential nomination in 1980, said (full text at http://www.nationalcenter.org/ReaganConvention1980.html - a must-read):
"I will not stand by and watch this great country destroy itself under mediocre leadership that drifts from one crisis to the next, eroding our national will and purpose. We have come together here because the American people deserve better from those to whom they entrust our nation's highest offices, and we stand united in our resolve to do something about it.
"We need rebirth of the American tradition of leadership at every level of government and in private life as well. The United States of America is unique in world history because it has a genius for leaders -- many leaders -- on many levels. But, back in 1976, Mr. Carter said, "Trust me." And a lot of people did. Now, many of those people are out of work. Many have seen their savings eaten away by inflation. Many others on fixed incomes, especially the elderly, have watched helplessly as the cruel tax of inflation wasted away their purchasing power. And, today, a great many who trusted Mr. Carter wonder if we can survive the Carter policies of national defense."
Mr. Governor, if you take the above quote and replace the word "Carter" with "Obama", you have a statement that is unfortunately true once again. It is time for the United States to have another "Reagan" as president. And you are that man.
Contrary to what Mr. Obama believes, one should not run for president "because he can" or for the honor and fringe benefits. The presidency is a duty as much as it is an honor. You, Mr. Governor, have the tools necessary to make a difference, not just for New Jersey, but for these great United States of America.
We the people beg you to run for the office of the Presidency. Please do not ignore the call.
