Graphic Design Manifesto 2007

As emerging graphic designers, we advocate a responsibility towards humanity, through accountability for our professional actions economically, socially, and environmentally. We recognize consumerism is an integral part of the capitalistic system. As graphic designers, it is impossible to disregard or not to engage in this venue of professional activity. We are conduits of information and hold ourselves accountable for the impact our contributions have on visual culture, locally and globally.

Therefore we encourage and embrace the following practices related to visual communication:

Be aware of our influences

Seek innovative solutions that focus on positive outcomes

Promote visual literacy

Acknowledge that design is about ideas and communication, not about technology and form

Maintain integrity of information

Focus on sustainability

Be passionate
