RE: LACK OF HEAT at Imperial Towers, 1255 Bidwell street, Vancouver, B.C.
We, the tenants of 1255 Bidwell street, are addressing the problem that we all have leases that note heat is included. When we were hit with wind storms and extreme cold this winter, our apt. could not maintain a heat of more than 14C. The heat standard for a 'heat included' building is 20C.
Due to furnace repair problems, many of us have bought or been provided with portable heaters to compensate for the lack of heat. We have been told that the furnace can not be repaired until it can be shut off for five days in the summer. This is unacceptable as our BC Hydro costs have now increased (doubled or tripled) since we have to run portable heaters.
This is a petition to have our rent reduced $30/month from December 2006 until the furnace problem is properly repaired to make up for the hydro bills to run heaters.
We are dissatisfied by the status of heat for our apartments and this petition will be submitted to the management of Imperial Towers or the Tenancy Board of B.C. for review if we do not get compensation for heat as we expected to have provided as per our lease agreements.
