MKT Trail Proclamation
For more than 10 years the City of Houston has promised to create a bicycle and pedestrian facility stretching from Nickolson St. at 19th Street to the MKT trail through the Heights to downtown Houston. This corridor will establish a safe and direct route for walkers, cyclists, joggers, and rollerbladers to downtown Houston. It will incorporate two historically significant rail road bridges and create a much needed linear park. The benefits will be:
Safety
Convenience
Pleasure
Health
Sense of community
Increased property values
Improved image for Houston as environmentally aware
Therefore, we request without further delay, City Council and the Mayor act to construct the MKT Trail.
