I am employed by a major UK airline.
Historically we have been paid tax free allowances to cover out of pocket expenses incurred as a result of being away from home. The payments are used to cover things you would expect expenses to be used for, things like food and drinks etc and not duck ponds and second homes.
Now the Tax Man has decided that we should be taxed on these payments by as much as 50%. At the same time employees of other UK companies and public bodies are still being paid allowances tax free.
How can this be a just system, where one person has a different tax regime imposed on them by a local tax office to the person living next door, with the only difference being who they are employed by.
I feel this is discriminatory and would be grateful if you would sign this petition to show your support.
If the tax man gets his way with us you can bet he will use it as a precedence and come after others in the same way.
Thank you for your time.
