Donnie Johnson was arrested in 1984 and convicted in 1985 for the brutal murder of Connie Johnson, his own wife. He shoved a garbage bag down her throat and held her down while she slowing died. Not once in the past 21+ years has he claimed DNA on the garbage bag could be used to prove his innocence. NOT ONCE! Yet, in light of the recent reprieve issued by the governor of Tennessee in the case of Sedley Alley where he claimed DNA on the evidence could prove him innocent, Donnie Johnson has claimed DNA evidence on the garbage bag must be tested.
In over 21 years, this man never made the claim to test the DNA yet once a reprieve is issued in another case, he decides to claim the same thing in a last minute attempt at preventing the law.
Something must be done to stop such frivolous claims. It is absurd to prolong the inevitable with such claims at the last minute. In 21 years, and many years since DNA testing has become available, no such claim has been made? This must stop!
In Connie's name, and the name of all murder victims, this petition is to STOP such last minute claims which have never been brought up in the history of the case or cases at hand.
