Let's support Agus Miftach that Indonesia needs to return to its secular, modern roots.

"All parties need to realize that as a modern state, Indonesia had never been and could never sustain monoculturalism, as the country has always been multicultural since its inception," Agus Miftach told a diversity dialogue Tuesday evening.

"Dogmatic conformity, therefore, can only be applied internally within a group, as opposed to an across the board application as others would also reciprocate," he said, as quoted by Antara.

Agus reiterated that diversity was the essence of life and should therefore considered an asset.

"Let thousands of flowers bloom, allowing a garden rich in beauty and meanings."

According to Agus, who is also the chairman of the Wahdatul Ummah Muslim organization, Indonesia is a modern state that was not established based on primordial factors, but rather a state built on a modern ideology of Pancasila.

"Pancasila has proven to overcome the differences and synergize social plurality into a unified nation state," he said, adding that the country's flawed democratization process had led to an insurgence of fanatic primordialism and increasing poverty.

Returning the country to the fundamentals of Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution, he said, would put the country back on track to development and progress.

With this, I support that Indonesia has to return to its secular and modern roots to PROGRESS as a nation.
