Dear UE Parliament:
I am writing to you personally and on behalf the millions of Venezuelan people that have worked during the last three years for the Presidential Revocatory Referendum that will be held this coming August 15, 2004.
This referendum has cost so much lives, prisoners, time and money that I was deeply alarmed when reading the news regarding your decision not to assist the Venezuelan people as Observers during this act.
Europe and specifically, Spain, Portugal, France, England and Venezuela have strong and special ties: cultural and political and specfically fighting for freedom from despotic regimes. Your histories have taught the new world about this matter and it has always been a source of inspiration. It is important to refresh the deep roots Europeans
have in our country, as well as the mutual interest.
Therefore, I would kindly ask that you reconsider your decision since the current Venezuelan government has prepared all kind of obstacles and technicalities for the polling, including fear campaigns for the people. We urgently need your prestigious representatives as Observers, during this particular event.
