We hereby submit to you on behalf of the deceased Showkat Nazir who passed away on 22/09/06 after being in coma for 20 days. His coma and subsequent death was bought on to him and his family by negligence of New Medical Center in Dubai (NMC)


After reviewing Mr. Showkats medical history, clinical examination, and radiological study, neurosurgeons from two leading hospitals in Dubai and doctors in U.S.A have confirmed persistent signs and symptoms of Iatrogenic brain insult after endoscopic sinus surgery done on 02/09/06 in NMC Hospital. Despite discovering the brain hemorrhage and several other internal complications the NMC hospital failed to own up and wasted precious 27 hours after this episode Finally when they could hide it no longer they asked him to be shifted to Belhoul hospital as there is no neurosurgical unit not available at NMC.


Some of the evident actions justify that there has been a deliberate negligence from the NMC management to sideline this case. This is because: 1. When NMC discovered that they had contributed to Mr. Showkats intracerebral hemorrhage then why was he retained in a hospital which does not have a Neuro Surgical Unit for over 27 hours. 2. Even when they referred the case to Belhoul hospital after 27 hours why did they approach a private hospital and not more credible hospitals like Rashid Hospital or Dubai Hospital who are known to handle such complications. Is it because they wanted to VEIL it from the government officials and DOHMS based in Rashid Hospital. 3. Ever since Mr. Showkat was transferred to Belhoul there has not been a single moment when NMC hospital officials would have inquired his condition because they are well aware that the damage they did was an irreversible one. In view of this we urge Ministry of Health to take an immediate action against the hospital and investigate this matter immediately. Mr. Showkat is the only bread winner for his family, he has a year old baby, a wife , five sisters and elderly parents whom he was financially supporting. And this incident has shaterred several families and it would be criminal if they dont get the JUSTICE.


This case is a stark reminder of medical negligence and the disregard shown by the NMC towards a life, they only acted in their interest and tried to hide the facts and hence took away his chance of recovery, their crime not only lies with mishandling of the case but also subsequent events which further so as to say sealed the tombstone on Showkats life.

We not only appeal to you on his familys behalf but also on his behalf as his life was taken away from him by a doctor who not only did not know his job but also proved a coward, his initial mistake can be taken an accident but his subsequent inaction turned him into a murderer.
