Keep Quizmania on ITV1

People complain about the tripe we see on TV. A whole new level of tripe was produced when various call-in quizzes were made. These shows offered money to viewers who phoned a premium rate number for a chance to win money live on air. I hated these shows, as did most people, then along came a different show ... Quizmania.

Quizmania was the same type of call-in show, but with one minor difference, entertainment was always on hand. You didn't need to phone that premium rate number to enjoy the show. You could literally sit down and watch it without looking at the phone. This programme was later scooped by UK TV giant, ITV. It was given a late night slot (after midnight) every night on ITV1. It added to its large group of cult fans with its down-to-earth presenters, unique format which included the involvement of those behind the camera (yes, even featuring them on screen), and ofcourse it's pure entertainment value. This show bagged 1.2 Million in its first week for ITV with low viewing ratings, but that soon changed in later weeks when it's popularity among students, insomniacs, and late nighters became obvious. Despite this, ITV saw fit to get rid of it and move it to ITV2. And in it's slot? The Mint. ITV's attempt to recreate the popularity of Quizmania with it's own house-produced call-in show. Except, it failed miserably. It was overly boring, and the 'celebrity guests' they offered just couldn't compare to Quizmania's hosts and crew. ITV fell into a hole, and so brought back Quizmania for weekends (Fri, Sat, Sun) while The Mint kept the weekday slot. During it's return Quizmania got inspected by OFCOM, and was the first to pass the inspection, The Mint and ITV refused to be inspected by OFCOM. So, naturally, Quizmania is not only the best show of it's kind entertainment wise, it is proven to be the safest for those phoning in. Just a few weeks ago, Quizmania celebrated it's 1 Year Anniversary. But now, ITV are back to their old ways ...

Quizmania is scheduled to be moved exclusively to ITV:Play, off of ITV1 possibly for good. And once again it is being replaced by a new ITV house-produced show which will, just like the Mint, fail to even hold a candle to Quizmania. This isn't right. It is clear to me that IV haven't got a clue, they refuse to learn their lesson, their only concern is to make money (which the Mint did, but through crooked terms, such as offering a 100,000 + jackpot by guessing a 4 digit code, with only 2 or 3 callers getting a go). That is why I have started this positioned. Why replace a popular, safe, and entertaining show for another one of ITV's boring, crooked, money-makers? Sign this petition to keep Quizmania on ITV1.
