To Chris Randall, owner of Nord compound 3.628.

We, the undersigned wish the Nord compound to remain at Wansford.

The Nord compound was built in 1911 for express trains out of Paris, in the early 1970s it was brought over to Britain for restoration and has ran there many times since. The technology it carried was studied and incorporated into British ideas, especially the GWR.

There are plans to send it to France for restoration and so it can be among its kind if you will.

However, we request you to reconsider, as it would be better appreciated as something more unique and interesting and a strong representation of how Britain advanced its engineering technologies rather than being a mere technical difference.

The Nene Valley Railway is a good home for it and will be better looked after once the new locomotive restoration workshop is constructed and it is still in reasonable condition.
