It is our request that the Honourable Ruth Dyson, Minister for ACC, starts an enquiry into the discriminatory and unfair practices of the ACC.
From this enquiry we wish the minister to make appropriate changes to law to ensure that all New Zealanders gain fair and adequate access to ACC assistance when it is appropriate.
In particular, we request that special notice be taken of policies which discriminate against those suffering from mental injuries such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder when the cause of the injury is not sexual assault or rape. We request that such laws be changed to ensure those suffering from PTSD and other such injuries caused by other means, such as the examples given on our website, also gain fair and appropriate assistance.
Finally, we request that the minister ensures that all such cases which were previously ineligible for ACC assistance because of the aforementioned discriminatory laws are reconsidered with a high priority so that those eligible for such assistance receive it at the earliest possible convenience.
