Let's Blow Up the Helendale Bunkers!

In the last few weeks and days of 2007, the tiny town of Helendale, CA has been turned upside down due to the actions of a few heartless individuals who decided that they would play God and take away two promising young lives.

Christopher Cody Thompson and Bodhi Sherzer-Potter were two young people in love and whose lives offered promise, not only for themselves, neither only their families, but our entire community of Silver Lakes, the Town of Helendale, California, and our world as a whole. Their lights will shine brightly forever on in our hearts and minds.

This petition is to have the abandoned military bunkers destroyed. Many people ask where the parents were and why did they not know where their children were, and many more want to know why it is that these sick individuals would have chosen to take anyone's lives to begin with. No matter the reason, the chance for this to happen again will be lessened if those bunkers are no longer around for the kids to go to. If there is one less place on this planet for people to have the chance to take away more lives, we will have been able to perhaps stop yet another senseless killing. Cody and Bodhi were peaceful people whose lives were filled with Love, Friendship, Promise and Life. Like any young people, they were out to conquer the world, hand in hand, and there was no one in this world who would take that from them. Though their lives were taken, their love was not, and it is because of this love that they will continue to shine through each of us.We cannot allow their lives to have been lived to mean nothing more than a symbol of where not to let our children go to hang out. There lives were so full of Love. We must do what we can in order to keep it in the minds and the hearts and the memories of parents and young people everywhere.

We,the undersigned residents of this community of Silver Lakes, the town of Helendale, residents of San Bernardino county, and the great state of California, take a stand against violence against anyone, but namely those whose lives hold promise for everyone.

None of us wants to even think about what must have gone through those children's heads in those few moments of terror. I know I don't want to, and most certainly I would never want my own children to have to deal with that level of fear. There is a sickness in the world today, and perhaps our having these bunkers permanently destroyed will serve as a symbol of not only our grief, but also our standing together as a community of Human Beings against violence. These two young people should never have paid for whatever self-lacking it was that the murderers had residing within their souls. Destroying the bunkers may only be symbolic, but at least we know that the symbolism of their being destroyed will hopefully be a reminder that we are all subject to this sort of violence, and having one less place for the ugliness which resides within some of those sharing space with us on this planet will have yet one less place to show itself.

Cody and Bodhi did not deserve to die. They simply were kids being kids, and for this youthful naivete they paid with their very lives. We feel if there is yet one less place for these types of inhumane homosapien creatures who took their lives to do their evils deeds, we will have saved countless young lives.

We want those bunkers destroyed. We know that there will always be other places for kids to be where they are not supposed to be, where they shouldn't be and where we plain old just do not want them to be. Destroying the bunkers will be one way of taking steps to prevent this from happening, at least at that site, ever again. We know we cannot stop the evil in this world, but we also know that we can stop it from happening at that place. Those Bunkers should have been destroyed years ago. The silent rule known among parents is that where there is danger, there also will be teens curious about places like that, as well as teens just being someplace they know they ought not be.
Cody and Bodhi were just being teens, and as we all know, teens are drawn to places that are dangerous and places which seem cool, when in reality we, as parents, know that such places only serve to get them ever closer to those places we do not want them to be, such as out of our lives physically.

Please sign our petition. Let those in charge know that this should not ever have happened. NO young people should die for simply having been being young and perhaps a bit too trusting of an altruistic, benevolent Universe to care for them when it was that the evil which visited them on that fateful night slipped by and took them from us.

May your Life be as grand as is our Love and our very broken hearts...

Go away from this petition with Love and Light in Your Soul, Peace in Your Heart, and Trust Placed in the Wisdom of the Cosmos and the Unconditional Love of the Universe.

May God be with you all...Mahalo for Your Time and Your Aloha
