A growing concern has been plaguing me for quite some time now...Bullying in school. I want to share some information with you that may be of concern because you are a citizen of this county and perhaps a parent who actually cares about the children in our schools. I have listened to my daughter tell me that an older student in her school has been constantly calling her out of her name and making verbal threats to her about physically abusing her. You can imagine how this must have upset me. So I kept my cool and went to the school officials. A meeting was called; however, the problem still exists. No student is safe in school when he/she is being bullied. No student has the right to bully another student. All students should feel safe at school. Students should be protected from bullies and bullies should be dealt with according...removed from the school if necessary. There are too many school incidents happening now days that we can't afford to take things lightly. I ask of you to join me in getting the school and the school board to adopt a school "no bullying" policy. The policy shall state that any student identified by other students and staff to be suspended immediately from school on the first offense. Should it occur again that student should be overturned to local law officials who shall deal with them according for repeated threatening/assaulting of another student (or relevant wording). Your support is appreciated!
