New Orleans Civil Rights Memorial - Plessy Park

This is a statement of community support for the production of the New Orleans Civil Rights Memorial to be housed in Plessy Park. Plessy Park and the Memorial are community development projects of Crescent City Peace Alliance and students of Frederick A. Douglass High School. The members of this community see this project as an essential component of the education of our children. We also see this project as an opportunity for the community to participate in raising an awareness of the history of civil rights struggle in New Orleans and to use that history in continuing struggles for social, economic and racial justice.
