Say No to the Propsed Cell Tower in Grand Islands Veterans Park!
This petition has been set-up in an effort to stop the proposed Verizon cell phone & broadband tower in Veterans Park on Grand Island , New York . WE NEED YOUR SIGNATURE! There is power in numbers and we need all of the signatures we can get!
The relaxing beauty of the towns largest and busiest park is no place for a cell tower. Furthermore numerous studies in the United States and worldwide show significantly increased cancer rates in neighborhoods located near cell phone towers ranging between 3 to 4 times the normal cancer rates. Selecting Veterans Park for a cell phone tower endangers not only the residents who live nearby, but also the people who frequent the library, playground, baseball diamonds, soccer and football fields, the basketball and volleyball courts, bike path, as well as the skating rink and sledding hill. We cannot allow a cell tower to be built in a park where it may affect the lives of so many children!
Please join us to fight the cell phone tower in Veterans Park! There are unpopulated locations that can be selected. According to WGRZs webite Supervisor McMahon has previously said in the past, Grand Island has received about $10,000 annually for each cell tower. Do we really want to destroy the parks beauty and expose park users to potential dangers for $10,000?
Where is the public input? Why has the cancelled August 19th, 2009 public workshop never been rescheduled?
