To the WB Television Network and the Producers, Writers, and Directors of 'Smallville':
We, the undersigned, are viewers and fans of your television series 'Smallville' who have been greatly disturbed and disgusted by recent rumours of a possible romantic relationship between two of the characters, Lex Luthor and Lana Lang. While no offense is meant to either of the actors involved, we find the idea of such a relationship absurd and abhorrent, and are convinced that it would NOT be good for the show.
We believe that such a relationship would destroy what we hold dear or find entertaining in 'Smallville'. It would hinder the plot and character development of the show, prevent it from staying true to its original 'Superman' roots, lack intrinsic dramatic potential and chemistry, and would be grossly out of character for at least one of the characters involved. Naturally, it would also highly discourage us from continuing to follow 'Smallville' in its future seasons.
We would also like to point out that we, the undersigned, are not the only ones who hold this view. Several thousand fans and critics have voiced their dismay and disgust at the possibility of a romantic relationship between Lex and Lana on websites and online message boards (such as those on Kryptonsite.com, TelevisionWithoutPity.com, Lana-Clark.com, Forums.Naughty-Seduction.net, and several others), and made convincing arguments against it.
As such, we hope you will take the opinions of your fans and viewers into consideration, and not destroy our faith in and enjoyment of the show by allowing this vague possibility of a Lex-Lana romantic relaitonship to materialize.
