Oppose Banning Cuba From the World Baseball Classic

While it is understood that the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control has cited a law that forbids economic transactions with Cuba to enforce this ban, it is felt that this ban would reflect badly on an already beleaguered foreign position.
Our Constitution lays out the laws by which we, the United States of America, must abide. Cuba is not subject to OUR laws. A ban on Cuba is not the right move for us. If we, as a nation, have a law tha forbids economic transactions with Cuba, then we should abstain from participation.
The "World" Baseball Classic should be open to any team from anywhere in the "World," regardless of ego-centric laws. The precedent has been set. Cuba participated in the 96 Olympics in Atlanta and Cuba's national baseball team played an exhibition game against the Baltimore Orioles in '99 in Baltimore.
Summary: It is the position of the undersigned that this ban, with an eye towards international good-will, should be overturned.
