People Opposed to the South Shore Extension P.O.S.S.E

We, the taxpayers of Northwest Indiana, are AGAINST the proposed South Shore Railroad Extension at this time. We have not seen a ridership study to justify over $1,000,000,000 {$1 billion dollars} in initial tax expenditures plus additional subsidies that will be needed. Major job creation has been touted but there has not been any justification of the numbers shown. We call for more information and better planning to be done, the results publicized, and a binding ballot referendum to be conducted with all voters of Lake and Porter Counties eligible to vote.
